Pilates Trainer
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, Diego trained as a ballet dancer. Achieving the rank of principal dancer, he performed a wide repertoire of both classical and modern works at the national and international levels. He held faculty positions at the University of Louisiana Lafayette, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and the Raleigh School of Ballet. After osteoarthritis in his hip progressively limited his mobility, he dived deep into Pilates as a way to manage pain and stave off surgery. Feeling the positive effects of the system, Diego entered a teacher-training program. In keeping with the essential precepts of Classical Pilates, he is keenly interested in guiding clients to stretch, strengthen, and balance the whole body with an emphasis on breath, mindfulness, alignment, and coordinated, flowing movement.
Diego’s ultimate goal is to bring others to a place where they can heal and be joyful and free in their bodies. Building on these interests, he is currently enrolled in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He is an avid swimmer, a commuter cyclist, wannabe gym rat, yoga practitioner and new, fledgling surfer. After growing up in Southern California and then spending thirty years living and working away, Diego is happy to be back home.
