The water is a great place to help with pain. Our program includes gentle movements in our heated pool for a safe, ideal environment for relieving arthritis pain. We focus on increasing flexibility and range of motion and helping to build stronger muscles and overall stamina so that you feel more like you. Classes are modified to meet each individual’s needs and are led by Arthritis Foundation certified instructors. For those seeking a more challenging workout, resistance equipment can be incorporated. Beginner swimmers are welcome.
Arthritis Foundation® Aquatic classes
Our fee-based Arthritis Foundation® Aquatic classes are held every Wednesday and Friday at 1pm. This exercise program is for those with musculoskeletal conditions including, but not limited to any form of Arthritis, knee, hip, back, or shoulder conditions. Essentially small group Aquatic Personal Training, each participant receives individual attention from a Certified Arthritis Foundation® Aquatic Professional. This is a great option for continuum of care after Physical Therapy.
Core and Muscular Strength
In every class, there is an emphasis on core strength without twisting the spine and strengthening each muscle group.
Our Warm Water Pool is multi-purpose and temperatures typically range from 88-90 degrees. It is an excellent environment for working the whole body and strengthening the joints through their full range of pain free movement.
Modifications are customized for each participant as needed, and we have a nice variety of equipment to use for obtaining personal results.
A good water shoe that looks like a tennis shoe made for the water is recommended, but not required. The shoes add stability, protection, and shock absorption as you walk and do exercises and are available at our Pro Shop.
