Aqua Class Descriptions

Aqua-Fit is a fun, fast paced water work out that combines cardio, core, balance and strength training. This is an interval style class with a proper warm up and cool down. Props are used at the instructor’s discretion. On a scale of 1-10 this is moderate to intense activity. Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) 6 – 8.

Aqua-Lite uses the freedom of the water to improve range of motion, flexibility and overall strength. Water walking is used to improve cardiovascular endurance, core strength and balance. Proper breathing techniques are incorporated as well. On a scale of 1-10 this is easy to moderate activity. Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) 3 – 4.

Aqua-Motion is an educational interval style class that includes combinations of low impact and range of motion exercises. This class builds upon Aqua-Lite so you progress your work out and get stronger. On a scale of 1-10 this is moderate activity. Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) 4 – 6.

Aquatic Orientation is designed to familiarize members and non-members with all that the aquatic program has to offer. During this complimentary informational Orientation our Aquatic coordinator will present an overview of the aquatic departments program offerings as well as the policies and procedures for taking classes. Our coordinator will offer a recommendation of what would best meet your needs in aquatic class level or assist in the selection of aquatic training. You will also learn information about aquatic workout attire, training ticket process, equipment usage and open water times.

Arthritis Foundation® Aquatic Program 

  • Description

Our fee-based Arthritis Foundation® Aquatic classes are held every Wednesday and Friday at 1pm.  This exercise program is for those with musculoskeletal conditions including, but not limited to any form of Arthritis, knee, hip, back, or shoulder conditions. Essentially small group Aquatic Personal Training,  each participant receives individual attention from a Certified Arthritis Foundation® Aquatic Professional. This is a great option for continuum of care after Physical Therapy.  Contact the Medical Integration team for more information.

  • Core and Muscular Strength

In every class, there is an emphasis on core strength without twisting the spine and strengthening each muscle group.

  • Pool

Our Warm Water Pool is multi-purpose and temperatures range from 87-89 degrees.  It is an excellent environment for working the whole body and strengthening the joints through their full range of pain free movement.  

  • Modifications

Modifications are customized for each participant as needed, and we have a nice variety of equipment to use for obtaining personal results.

  • Tips  

A good water shoe that looks like a tennis shoe made for the water is recommended, but not required. The shoes add stability, protection, and shock absorption as you walk and do exercises and are available at our Pro Shop.

Swim N Sync is a Training and Education Program that takes place on Saturdays when scheduled.  During this progressive program, you will learn all swim strokes and turns correctly, you’ll increase strength by use of our Aqualogix Fitness Equipment, burn calories effectively in the water, and create a comprehensive training program you can implement for the rest of your life. 

Requirements include members & guests must be able to swim one pool length without stopping. Space is limited to the first 10 whom have registered at the Service Desk.
