April ’19 Member of the Month: Richard Gonzalez Member of the Month, News & Events

Congratulations Richard Gonzalez!

As a child growing up in the Bronx New York, he had one passion: listening to the Yankees on the radio, or going to the Yankee stadium and waiting for Mickey Mantle to come to the plate and hit a home run.

This inspired him to begin his fitness and wellness journey. He watched other kids in the local playgrounds playing a sport called stickball. He tried it and discovered a readiness to jump right in and compete.

Moving to the suburbs of Long Island NY, he quickly made friends by forming teams to compete in other sports such as racquetball, hockey and basketball. He ended up playing in various baseball leagues until his early 40’s and loved bringing people together to compete in team sports. He believes that regular exercise encourages people to remain active and healthy. No matter what he does in the business world, he made time for a daily exercise and continue to apply this principle in his life today.

Being a member of Tri-City Wellness & Fitness Center since we opened in 2009 has been instrumental and inspiring. He has created many friendships and a few lifelong friends. He has made the Center a daily part of his life, trying various classes – Qigong, Yoga, Mat Pilates and RPM/Sprint have contributed to his weight loss of over 20 lbs.

He believes that no matter how young or old you are, the action of stepping into the Tri-City Wellness & Fitness Center, interacting with the staff and other members can be a positive motivation for a lifelong sense of health and well being.
