Posture alignment involves a regimen using specific stretches, exercises, and positions designed to bring your body back into proper alignment so it may function correctly, efficiently, and ultimately free of pain. The body needs “design” motion daily, and when it is chronically deprived of it, the body can become posturally dysfunctional. This affects the whole skeleton and leads to muscular imbalances, compensations, and abnormal wear and tear, which results in joint degeneration and pain. Misalignments can also affect the performance of other bodily systems including cardiovascular, digestive, and respiratory and affect their ability to function properly. Improving your posture can correct misalignments that cause pain, help prevent further structural damage, and provide a solid musculoskeletal foundation to build your athletic physique. Forward head posture, rounded shoulders, outward pointing feet, slouched upper back, and many other posture dysfunctions can be fixed. If you are in pain and need relief or if you’re not in pain and want optimal fitness results, our posture therapist offers a private evaluation to take your health to the next level.

Who Benefits From Posture Alignment Therapy?

Posture alignment is being used by both professional athletes looking for an edge and anyone who wants to limit the effects of aging through superior symmetrical postural health. Other benefits include: improved posture and mobility, increased energy, stress reduction, proper breathing, and weight loss. In addition, posture alignment therapy can successfully address and eliminate pain associated with carpal tunnel, herniated discs, migraine headaches, back pain, neck pain, knee pain, scoliosis, effects of dislocated joints, shoulder problems, and many other health issues. An individual who has experienced either some sort of trauma and/or surgery will also benefit from this therapy. A properly aligned body will heal faster than a body with layers of dysfunction.

How Does the Therapy Work?

Posture alignment therapy restores the body’s correct anatomical position by utilizing specific stretches and functional exercises. The goal is to correctly realign the eight load-bearing joints of the body (shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles) like a well structured sky scraper to restore optimum function. You will meet with our posture therapist for a comprehensive assessment including digital multi-axis photographs, a posture and videotaped gait analysis, and functional muscle tests. The posture therapist will then evaluate your test results with the aid of a computerized plumb line and background grid. This pinpoints any weaknesses or negative habits from compensating that could lead to pain, injury, or inefficient locomotion. Your results will be used to design an appropriate posture program aimed at restoring your body’s correct anatomical alignment.
