Pilates Reformer
Pilates is the safe and highly-effective way to stretch, strengthen and streamline your body without building bulk or stressing your joints. Pilates Reformer training is an excellent form of exercise for all age groups and fitness levels – men and women alike! It is for the avid athlete or the weekend warrior. It is for the person recovering from an injury or simply wanting to strengthen and tone.
Pilates Reformer work has many components. They are:
Breathing - The essential link between mind and body, and provides the foundation to ideal posture, core strengthening, and endurance.
Concentration, Control and Centering – Creates the power of awareness in proper form to develop a strong, stable, and flexible core.
Precision – Understanding proper form, done with complete control, creates efficiency in movement that translates into functional everyday movements.
Balanced Muscle Development – Understanding, developing, and maintaining correct alignment lead to improved posture, increased comfort, and enhanced physical abilities while decreasing the risk of injury.
Rhythm/Flow – Integrating all of the above principles results in the development of the natural rhythms of a controlled, centered body with a keen awareness of correct movement patterns in everyday life.
Whole Body Integration – All muscle groups are used all the time, either for movement or stabilization.
Relaxation – As prerequisite for optimum health, learning the balance between effort and relaxation will release unnecessary tension that contributes to stress and injury.
